Action Alerts – Week of Oct 1st

CNY Solidarity members and supporters:
Please find below the weekly ACTION ALERTS from Indivisible NY24 and our legislative action teams.

The general election is in 36 days. Mark your calendars for Nov. 6, confirm your voter registration, and make sure your friends and family are all registered too. The registration deadline is Oct. 12, and Indivisible’s online voter registration tool is available here. Once you’ve checked all that, reach out to your favorite candidates’ campaigns and ask what you can do to help. Top priority for these final weeks is doors and phones, doors and phones, doors and phones.

At yesterday’s CNY Solidarity meeting, we adopted a new policy that allows greater sharing of electoral campaign-related information on this email list. (Coordinating Committee will share the full policy soon.) CNY Solidarity does not endorse candidates for office, but for certain identified candidates whose platforms are broadly consistent with the Coalition’s mission, we will now share information on, for example, opportunities to engage in canvassing and phone-banking in support of those candidates.

In light of this new policy, our climate justice committee has asked us to announce that our friends at Climate Change Action and Awareness (CCAA) will be phoning 1,000 registered voters on their mailing list on behalf of Dana Balter for Congress. Their list is of folks who have attended events and requested additional information about climate change. The phone banking will be done in coordination with the campaign. More volunteers to reach that many people are needed. Anyone interested in participating in this  phone bank, please contact fredzolna@gmail.com or Kitty Burns (otiscohills.yahoo.com).
