With the midterms behind us, Uplift Syracuse is feeling refreshed and ready to hit the ground running with our next steps and action items for 2019. And we want YOU there!
Whether you’re an avid volunteer or someone that has been on the fence, we encourage everyone to come out and join our discussion about making a difference at the local level.
Our general meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 11th at One Group and will begin promptly at 6pm.

Eyewitness Report from the Border & the Fight for Free Movement hosted by ISO, Syracuse

EYEWITNESS REPORT FROM THE BORDER AND THE STRUGGLE FOR FREE MOVEMENT IN CNY
Join us for an eyewitness report from the migrant caravan in Tijuana and a discussion about how activist groups in Syracuse can work together to advance the struggle for free movement in Central NY and against the rise of nationalism, xenophobia, and racism.
Since Trump’s election we have seen the troubling rise of (white) nationalism, xenophobia, and racism manifest in far right politics and in state policy. ICE continues to detain people seeking to exercise their right to migrate and kidnap community members who have long settled in these lands. Thousands of children are still being held in “detention camps,” while migrants at the border are being tear-gassed by an administration that has given the green light to right-wing militias and anti-immigrant vigilantes.
Although this event is being held a day later, we are in solidarity with the Day Against Fascism and Racism, and urge everyone who is disturbed by racist border policies and by the re-emergence of fascist groups to join us. #allagainstfascism #allagainstracism
The purpose of this meeting is to hear a report from a local activist, Sheila Sicilia, who traveled to work in solidarity with the people gathering at the border in Tijuana. We will also discuss strategies for building the fight for freedom of movement in CNY over the coming year.

Community For The Grid Fundraiser

Raising funds to launch an educational outreach campaign that will build support for the Community Grid.
Hear from local activists, urban developers, members of the Common Council, and the Walsh Administration.
Suggested donation $100, but all smaller or larger contribution levels are welcome.

Witness to Injustice: Unraveling US and Indigenous History

Thursday, December 13th: Join us at the Skä·noñh Center in Liverpool for an exercise by the Neighbors of Onondaga Nation (NOON) called Witness to Injustice: Unraveling US and Indigenous History adapted from the KAIROS Blanket Exercise. This is a 2-hour interactive group exercise that invites participants to experience: colonization, conquest, and attempted genocide of the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island (the North American Continent). Witness to Injustice is a participatory exercise designed to raise awareness of European conquest and Indigenous resistance and survival through the use of meaningful quotes and blankets representing the lands of Turtle Island. Participants engage in an experiential history lesson designed in a way that can’t be provided by reading a book. To participate in this rich group exercise you will need to reserve a spot and it will cost $12 per participant. There is a maximum of 35 people for this group exercise. CNY Solidarity meeting: Update from the Workers Center

Please join us for our twice a month CNY solidarity coalition meeting. In the first hour we will hear from organizers from the Workers Center of CNY with an update on immigration and organizing efforts. In the second hour, CNYSC committees will meet.
Park Central Presbyterian is an accessible facility. Please use the side entrance on Fayette street to the elevator to the ground floor meeting space. There is a small parking lot across Fayette street from the church as well as ample street parking.
