Action Alerts – Week of Dec 31st

CNY Solidarity members and supporters:
Please find below the weekly ACTION ALERTS from Indivisible NY24 and our legislative action teams.

This Thursday (Jan. 3), we’ll be rallying to urge Rep. Katko to support HR1, the major new democracy reform bill that the House Democrats introduce this week.

Tuesday (January 1)

Happy New Year!

Wednesday (January 2)

End the Government Shutdown: Call Charles Schumer  (202-224-6542; 315-423-5471),Kirsten Gillibrand (202-224-4451; 315-448-0470) and John Katko ( 315-423-5657 (Syracuse), 315-253-4068 (Auburn), or 202-225-3701 (DC)),and demand a clean year-long continuing resolution to end the government shutdown. This would keep the government open without giving in to Trump’s demand for a wall or funding detention of immigrants and additional border agents. Caving in to Trump on this would invite more presidential blackmail destroying Congress’ power over the purse under the Constitution. More information here

Thursday (January 3)

Day 1: Let’s Fix Our Democracy Rally. 12:30pm outside Rep. Katko’s Syracuse office. Organized by Indivisible NY24; part of Indivisible national day of action. More details here.

Friday (January 4)

Demand Democracy Reform: Call John Katko’s office and ask him to support H.R. 1, the democracy reform package. It makes voting easier, attacks big money in politics, and demands ethical government. More details here. Katko’s numbers are 315-423-5657 (Syracuse), 315-253-4068 (Auburn), and 202-225-3701 (DC).

You’re receiving this email because you’re subscribed to the CNY Solidarity Coalition announcements list. This is a low-volume list (typically no more than 4-6 messages per week), which now has more than 2,000 subscribers. We also maintain higher-volume listservs as venues for discussion of general Coalition-wide issues (discussion-cnysolidarity), key state and local action team organizing priorities (stateleg-cnysolidarity), and key Indivisible NY24 organizing priorities (IndivisibleNY24). The latter list includes more frequent action alerts, as well as information about local electoral campaigns supported by Indivisible. If you’d like to be added to any of these lists, please reply to me and let me know which ones.
