Street Heat at Hancock Airbase

4:15 PM to 5 PM E. Molloy Rd, between Thompson and Townline

The Syracuse area hosts Hancock Air National Guard base where the Guard’s 174th Attack Wing conducts drone assassination and target identification missions using MQ-9 Reaper drones in Afghanistan and probably elsewhere. It has been announced that the numbers of drone operators being trained at Hancock will be doubled.

Syracuse Peace Council’s Street Heat holds a monthly presence outside Hancock Airbase to call for an end to the illegal and immoral killing of human beings by weaponized drones, which are piloted remotely from the base. Join us! Signs provided or bring your own progressive signs.

Syracuse Immigrant and Refugee Defense Network Bi-weekly Meeting

Tuesday April 24th 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at 2013 E Genesee Street, Syracuse

Bi-weekly meeting. Anyone interested in joining is welcome. We will be meeting in the common area on the second floor. Wheelchair accessible. Please do not wear any fragrances. Spanish translation can be provided.

All meetings are held in the Common Council Chambers, 3rd floor of City Hall, 233 East Washington Street. A public comment period begins at 6:30PM.

The CRB was established to ensure an open civilian-controlled process for investigating complaints against members of the Syracuse Police Department. We need to people to attend these meetings to show the CRB that citizens of all colors, incomes and professions care about the relations between the police force and the community.

If you are looking for a fulfilling and life changing experience, come help us serve the homeless community in Syracuse. We will be making lunch sacks, hygiene packages and having meaningful exchanges with our homeless friends. The success of our effort is due in great part to the willingness of community to show compassion to our neighbors who may be going through a rough time. That’s where YOU come in!

Give your Saturday a new meaning and make it a day of service. We Rise Above The Streets will be hosting Sandwich Saturday at Lincoln Middle School, this weekend, April 21st at 10am. Join us! You will be glad you did!

Syracuse has one of the nation's highest rates of lead exposure for children. Our monthly meetings have brought together concerned citizens, non-profit workers, elected officials, and other community organizers.
This month we will be developing an action plan, and discussing the path forward with coalition building. We will be joined by Legal Services CNY, and hear about their efforts canvassing and community outreach.
Please come join us and build the political to create long term, sustainable change.
