“Hello. I am a constituent and I am calling today to ask that Representative _________ take a strong stand on protecting LGBT rights. It is clear that the Trump-Pence administration isn’t interested in protecting them. The Department of Justice is rolling back its defense of trans students. Several draft executive orders have threatened to undermine protections for LGBT people. And some legislators want to pass the so-called First Amendment Defense Act, which would create a legal license to discriminate against not just LGBT people but also single mothers and unmarried couples. I am asking that the representative express strong support for LGBT rights and make a public statement refusing to support any version of the First Amendment Defense Act. Thank you for your time.
