How Democratic Party Leaders Quietly Support Trump’s March to War With Iran
Some Democrats are fighting to stop war with Iran, but party leaders are silently acquiescing or, worse, supporting an attack.
“Yet when it comes to the prospect of a direct war with Iran, Schumer is not only supporting Trump, but less than three weeks ago was goading the administration to be “tough” on Iran and not make any “side deals” without Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approval.”
Read the Article on The Intercept, then call Schumer, Gillibrand, and Mannion and demand that Congress invoke the War Powers Act!

New Yorkers Deserve Care—Not Price Hikes!!
New York’s individual market insurance carriers have asked the Department of Financial Services to allow them to increase premiums by an average of 13% in 2026. This increase would force New Yorkers to pay an average of $1,291 more annually, or $108 monthly, in premiums.
Make your voice heard: submit a public comment before July 1, 2025, sharing how steep premium increases would impact your budget or loved ones.

Letters to the Editor
CNY Solidarity Coalition encourages letters to the editor regarding issues affecting us locally and nationwide. We also recommend that letters are written in response to recent articles; these are more likely to get published. Links to these articles will be included each week.
If you’re looking for a subject to write about, here are this week’s suggestions:
Guidelines for writing Letters to the Editor, with a link to previously submitted letters, can be found on our website.
If you’ve written a Letter to the Editor, whether it’s been published or not, consider forwarding a copy to cnysolnews@gmail.com, so that it can be added to our website’s “Opinion” section.

Ex-Israeli Peace Negotiator Slams U.S. Bombing of Iran, Says Israel Seeks Chaos in Middle East
Netanyahu’s purpose was to drag Trump in. That was the singular goal, really, to make this America’s war. Israel doesn’t care. In fact, it prefers America to be less popular, more hated in the region because Israel’s project is to be a regional hegemon, but can only happen with America, in order not so much to do what it’s doing to Iran, but in order to continue to pursue the ethnic cleansing, dispossession, displacement, apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people.

Syracuse police have access to a nationwide network of license plate reader data. Who has access to theirs?
When Mayor Ben Walsh and the Syracuse Common Council last year allowed the Syracuse Police Department to install over two dozen Flock Safety license plate readers, Walsh and the council did so with the understanding that SPD would establish strict guidelines on the data collected by the readers. But an expert’s review of a publicly available Flock Safety license plate reader database shows Syracuse may be sharing driver and license plate data with nearly 6,000 other law enforcement agencies.

Syracuse Street Heat is just one, very unencumbered way to work for peace and social justice. We’re part of a decades-long grassroots tradition here, in Ithaca and elsewhere. We stand out and stand up for what we stand for.
A handful of us stand at busy intersections, for 45 minutes at rush hour, pivoting to the traffic with hand-held signs. We want to get the public thinking about issues often underrepresented in the media. We’re there weekly in almost all of Syracuse’s weather (we seldom cancel). Bring your own sign – or use one of ours. No meetings or committees, so participation time is minimal (yay!) Our Team: Ann, Dick, Ed, Geoff, Jim, Julienne, Les, Leslie, Peter….
To learn more, call Ann or Ed: (315) 478 4571.
