CNY Solidarity Coalition is a grassroots coalition of organizations and individuals vigorously working for economic, social and environmental justice and the protection of our neighbors. We are dedicated to truth, justice, democracy and peace. In pursuit of these goals we uphold a core commitment to nonviolence in all our activities. Our rejection of violence as a political tool is categorical. We abhor and condemn political violence, whether the assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah, or Democratic State lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband in Minnesota, or any other act of politically motivated violence.

Economic Power – Boycott Tesla!
Where we choose to spend our money is one of our greatest collective strengths. Every purchase we make is an opportunity to support companies and products that align with our values and progressive ideals for human rights, labor rights, social justice, and environmental protection.
We believe in the right of all human beings to live in a safe environment with fair access to opportunity within an inclusive economy. Each week we will highlight one company or product that does NOT align with our shared values and ideals.

Speak for the Trees! Submit a Comment to Save the Roadless Rule.
For nearly 25 years, the Roadless Rule has protected 59 million acres of wild, road-free forests in 39 states. Now Trump’s USDA wants to tear it down—paving the way for logging, mining, and development that threaten wildlife, clean water, and the places you love to explore. BUT we can fight back. The USDA is required to accept public comments until September 19th—and they are required to read every single one. Plus, your comment could be used in court if this decision is later challenged.
TOGETHER we can stop this! 👉Public Comments are open now on the Federal Register & we need to to tell them NO!

Stop the Trump Admin’s Latest Attack on Our Climate and Health
Submit a public comment before September 22 demanding that the EPA uphold their mandate to protect us from climate-busting pollution. The Trump administration’s EPA is attempting to reverse the legal finding that protects us from polluters who cause climate change. Here’s what you need to know:
- That EPA decision, called the endangerment finding, legally requires the government to protect people from climate-busting pollutants, including carbon dioxide, methane, and four others.
- This is a direct attack on EPA’s authority to protect us from climate change.
- Big polluters will make big bucks while the rest of us pay the price for increasingly catastrophic climate disasters fueled by their pollution.

Letters to the Editor
CNY Solidarity Coalition encourages letters to the editor regarding issues affecting us locally and nationwide. We also recommend that letters are written in response to recent articles or other letters; these are more likely to get published. Links to these articles will be included each week.
If you’re looking for a subject to write about, here are this week’s suggestions:
Guidelines for writing Letters to the Editor, with a link to previously submitted letters, can be found on our website.
If you’ve written a Letter to the Editor, whether it’s been published or not, consider forwarding a copy to cnysolnews@gmail.com, so that it can be added to our website’s “Opinion” section.

Cato raid lays bare the shameful cruelty of Trump’s immigration crusade (Editorial Board Opinion)
This raid was not about justice, keeping people safe or helping Americans get jobs. Instead, it seems to have been designed to instill fear in the name of scoring political points.
It was based on the despicable notion that Spanish-speaking, brown-skinned people are a danger to your physical and economic well-being. That they must be rounded up. That they must be denied due process.
That’s not something to be proud of. It’s shameful.

Syracuse Street Heat is just one, very unencumbered way to work for peace and social justice. We’re part of a decades-long grassroots tradition here, in Ithaca and elsewhere. We stand out and stand up for what we stand for.
A handful of us stand at busy intersections, for 45 minutes at rush hour, pivoting to the traffic with hand-held signs. We want to get the public thinking about issues often underrepresented in the media. We’re there weekly in almost all of Syracuse’s weather (we seldom cancel). Bring your own sign – or use one of ours. No meetings or committees, so participation time is minimal (yay!) Our Team: Ann, Dick, Ed, Geoff, Jim, Julienne, Les, Leslie, Peter….
To learn more, call Ann or Ed: (315) 478 4571.
