A core intention of CNY Solidarity Coalition is to bring together and support organizations already out there helping directly affected communities in the Central New York area. Each week we’ll spotlight one of the over 100 organizations in our Directory; there’s a LOT going on!
ArtRage Gallery
ArtRage Gallery is an arts space that focuses on art with social justice and environmental themes. The vision of the gallery is to share the transformative power of the arts with the community, to provide exhibition opportunities to local artists, and to use art to give voice to and share stories from historically underrepresented communities. We are committed to breaking down the art world’s boundaries about who is welcome. We believe that everyone has the right to art and that art is essential to building an open, just world.

The Color of Law : The Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America
Wednesday, February 11, 7:30-8:30 pm
Red, Wine & Blue Zoom event
Join our February Banned Book Club as we discuss The Color of Law: The Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America by legal scholar Richard Rothstein. This groundbreaking book challenges the widely held belief that racial segregation in the United States was the result of private choices or economic forces. Instead, Rothstein documents how federal, state, and local governments actively created and enforced segregation through laws, policies, and court decisions, and how those choices continue to shape inequality today.

Wednesday, February 11, 12 pm
Virtual lecture
This presentation examines the work of a small but dedicated group of abolitionists in Syracuse, New York, led by Rev. Samuel May and Rev. Jermain Loguen. Loguen, a man who escaped his own enslavement in Tennessee and settled in Syracuse in 1841, became one of the era’s most successful and well-known Station Masters on the UGRR. These men and their compatriots helped make Syracuse a center for abolitionist activity and organization and were primary participants in of the era’s most significant acts of civil disobedience, the Jerry Rescue, in October 1851.
