Tell the Senate to Vote ‘No’ on the SAVE Act! The House approved the latest version of the SAVE Act last week, a horrible voter-suppression bill that would require a passport or an original birth certificate to register to vote. Considering that 21 million American citizens don’t have immediate access to either of those documents, the SAVE Act is incredibly dangerous to our right to be heard at the ballot box. The SAVE Act is being considered by the Senate, but Democrats can still stop it if they stay united in opposition. If the Democrats filibuster the Act, 60 votes will be needed to advance the bill. Tell your Senator to Stop the SAVE Act!

It’s Time to Make the Rich Pay Their Fair Share! Despite New York having the country’s highest concentration of wealth, Gov. Hochul refuses to step up and enact state-level policies to counter federal attacks and the ever-growing affordability crisis that is driving working-class New Yorkers out of the state. It doesn’t have to be this way.
National and local polls have repeatedly demonstrated broad bipartisan support for making the ultra-wealthy & highly profitable corporations pay their fair share in taxes to pay for the public programs and services that make life a little easier for all of us, like universal childcare, affordable housing, and reliable public transportation. The Invest in Our New York campaign is demanding Gov. Hochul and lawmakers protect us from federal attacks and build the New York we deserve.
These federal cuts will impact state and local government budgets. And counties can face $1.3 billion in projected new costs. Learn more here.

Economic Power – Communities Not Cages Where we choose to spend our money and time is one of our greatest collective strengths. Every purchase we make, and every time we just show up to help, we demonstrate our values and progressive ideals for human rights, labor rights, social justice, and environmental protection.
More Information about Communities Not Cages Communities Not Cages is amplifying local community organizing to end ICE detention while illuminating the dangers of the Trump administration’s multi-layered detention expansion plan. The gravity of this moment cannot be understated, particularly after the passage of the MAGA betrayal megabill that will supercharge Trump’s cruel mass detention and deportation agenda, making ICE the largest law enforcement agency in the country. Shockingly, ICE’s budget now exceeds many militaries around the world. In this critical moment, the Communities Not Cages campaign draws attention to the people across the country who are uniting to protect their family members, neighbors, and friends. In the face of the administration’s unrelenting expansion of immigration detention, communities across the country are demanding to shut down detention centers and halt detention expansion.

Syracuse Street Heat
Syracuse Street Heat is just one, very unencumbered way to work for peace and social justice. We’re part of a decades-long grassroots tradition here. We stand out and stand up for what we stand for. Bring your own sign – or use one of ours. No meetings or committees, so participation time is minimal (yay!)
EVERY FRIDAY from 4:00 to 4:45 p.m.
Focused on the war in the middle East…Israel’s military genocide of Gaza and invasion of Lebanon. We disperse along the sidewalk with our signs at the very busy intersection of Erie Blvd East and East Genesee St. (across from the DeWitt fire station; park in the nearby mini mall lot.) When the temperature is below 20 degrees, we cancel! Learn more on Syracuse Peace Council’s website.
