Power Belongs To The People!
Saturday, March 28th at 12pm – 2pm Gather on sidewalks on Erie Blvd between Kinne Rd & E Genesee St, Dewitt
|
We’re standing together against the abuses of power, cruelty, and corruption. On March 28, we gather to remind President Trump and his enablers: America has No Kings!
This will be a sidewalk rally along Erie Blvd East, primarily in the block between E. Genesee St. and Kinne Rd. The rally will extend to the public sidewalks around the corner onto E. Genesee St. or further west down Erie Blvd. Please stay on sidewalks, observe traffic signals, and be safe.
The location and format of the rally was selected to ensure high visibility and participation. There will be no program of speakers or a central podium. Feel free to pick your protest spot on the public sidewalks on Erie Blvd. E.— anywhere from Kinne Rd. to E. Genesee St.

The benefit of choosing a busy, highly-visible location also comes with obvious risks. We trust that you all understand the need to be safe. At a minimum, that means not entering traffic lanes as a pedestrian, not blocking traffic, only crossing at legal crosswalks, not blocking entrances and exits to businesses, not blocking the view of drivers, and especially not blocking the DeWitt Fire Station if you are at that end of the protest area. We will have a number of trained marshals to keep folks safe. Local law enforcement will likely be there to support public safety–yours and drivers. Please respect both the marshals and law enforcement requests.

We have assurances that cars parked in the old Shoppingtown Mall outdoor lots will not be ticketed or towed. We implore you to be mindful of local businesses and not use the parking spaces they need to conduct business.
If you are able-bodied, please park behind Shoppingtown as far from the protest site as possible and walk up. This will leave room for those less able to walk. Please treat your fellow protestors with respect and patience. Please carpool as much as possible.
|
We will have dedicated parking for those for those who have accessibility requirements. Priority will be given to those with DMV vehicle tags. This will be in the “upper” lot off of Erie Blvd, enter at the second light up from Genesee St, or the first light up from Kinne.

Messaging
Humor and ridicule of the regime creates the most effective messaging. Signs don’t need to be fancy, but make sure the letters are BIG, BOLD, and CLEAR—drivers can’t read what they can’t see. Let’s show everyone how creative we are in Syracuse! Here are some examples from Indivisible.
And if you still need to make a sign, join sign making events on March 26 at 7pm – 8pm with SU Dems or March 28 9:00am – 11:30am at H Grey Supply Co in Syracuse.
Etiquette
As ALWAYS, our protests focus on NON-VIOLENT resistance. DO NOT engage with, respond to, or confront anyone who voices anger or disagreement from passing cars or on the street. De-escalate any potential confrontation. Remain on the public sidewalks at all times. Respect local businesses and do not become the source of conflict.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
Please be aware that there willb be photographers and videographers on site.
