CNY Solidarity & Indivisible Onondaga County Next Meeting: Sunday, April 12th at 3:00pm All Saints Parish Center, 1342 Lancaster Ave, Syracuse

The Iran war, which has now brought in nations throughout the Middle East, and has two nuclear-armed states attacking a country which is threatening to create nuclear weapons. The potential use of nuclear weapons lingers as a threat. Benjamin Netanyahu or Donald Trump could order a nuclear attack at any time. Stopping the war is the priority. The current crisis presents an opportunity to mobilize for common-sense policies to prevent nuclear war. Panelists Diane Swords and Don Hughes will talk about the history of grassroots anti-nuclear activism, current realities, and the policy objectives of the national “Back from the Brink Campaign to Prevent Nuclear War.” There will be small group discussion from 4-5 during committee breakout sessions. Past grassroots action has led to reductions in warheads, eliminated almost all nuclear testing, and generally helped ease international relations. Let’s do it again!

We will also review our bylaws at this meeting. RSVP Here

No Kings 3 Recap from Peace Action New York State On Saturday, March 28th, Americans turned out across the country to participate in the third installment of “No Kings” demonstrations against the Trump administration. Organizers say it was the largest single day of protest in U.S. history, with protests in more than 3,300 cities and towns. An estimated 8 million people took to the streets in all 50 states.
A number of PANYS community chapters and affiliates co-organized or joined No Kings protests in their local areas to express opposition to Trump’s warmongering, the US/Israeli war on Iran, and US funding of the genocide in Palestine. Learn The Truth About AI Data Centers Thursday, April 9, 6:30-7:30 pm Red, Wine & Blue Zoom event We’ve invited Alli Finn of AI Now, an organization that focuses on AI research and responsible policy development, to learn more about what data centers are and why they’re spreading so quickly. The harsh reality is that data centers increase local pollution because of their use of fossil fuels. They also require a ton of power and water to run, which drains local resources and raises residents’ energy bills. They pull tax dollars away from community needs but fail to deliver on economic development. You deserve to have a say about whether they come to your town, but data centers often push their way into communities with little public input. Proposals can fly under the radar until it’s too late for local residents to voice their concerns. Register
