Action Alerts – Week of Feb 10th

Please find below the weekly action alerts from Indivisible NY24 and our legislative action teams. 

In the coming weeks, there will be increasing focus on the Democratic presidential primary, scheduled for April 28 in New York. If you are not currently registered Democratic and would like to vote in the primary, you have until Feb. 14 to change your enrollment status, and you can do so here.  

Monday (Feb 10)

Indivisible’s Payback Project – Help National Indivisible’s project to run ads in the districts of vulnerable Republicans who helped cover up President Trump’s misconduct. Information is here

Tues (Feb 11)

Weekly Vigil to End Family Separation – 12:00-12:15 in front of John Katko’s office at 440 South Warren Street. 

Wed (Feb 12) 

Rise Up For Social Action – Activist skill building for justice series. First workshop is People’s Lobbying – Holding Effective Meetings with Public Officials.  7:00 – 8:30 pm Syracuse Center for Peace and Social Justice 2013 E. Genesee St. Syracuse.  There is a sliding scale fee of $0-$20 to attend. Please pay what you can, and don’t let the cost keep you away if you’d like to come! Registration is limited to 20 people. Thurs (Feb 13)

Indivisible Payback Project. Sign up to text voters in vulnerable Republican Senator’s districts this fall to encourage their constituents to replace them for their cover-up of Trump’s misconduct. More information is here.

Fri., Feb 14

Democratic presidential primary debate – will air on ABC and Apple News. If you’re aware of local watch parties, please let us know.

Sat. Feb 15

Vigil to End Family Separation  12:00 – 12:30 in front of the Farmers Market

Sun. (Feb 16)

CNY Solidarity Meeting – 2-4 at Park Central Church (504 E Fayette St, Syracuse, NY). Special program on the presidential primary.

Please join us for a panel discussion of the presidential primary, hosted by Indivisible NY24. We’ll hear brief remarks on why primaries are an important part of the democratic process, followed by brief presentations from community members on why they’re supporting Biden, Bloomberg, Buttigieg, Klobuchar, Sanders, Warren, and Yang for president. Then we’ll provide some time for supporters of each candidate to discuss follow-up local organizing plans.

Save the date for these upcoming events      

Tuesday, Feb 18th – Implicit Bias and Cultural Competence Workshop- The workshops will be held at the Embassy Suites near Destiny USA.  We are offering 2 half day sessions from which to choose: one in the morning (8:30-12:00) and one in the afternoon (1:00-4:30).  OnCare will cover the entire cost of the training, but participants will need to register. Registration: Morning  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Feb18morning .  Wed., Feb 19: Democratic presidential primary debate will air on NBC and MSNBC. If you’re aware of local watch parties, please let us know.

Tue., Feb. 25: Democratic presidential primary debate will air on CBS and Twitter. Indivisible NY24 is hosting a watch party at the PressRoom Pub. More details here.

Tues. Feb 25: Rise Up For  Social Action –  Activist skill building for Justice Series.  Second Workshop is Understanding Privilege/Confronting Oppression Workshop.  7-8:30 pm at the Syracuse Center for Peace and Social Justice.  Register here.

Sat., Mar 7: White Privilege workshop hosted by CNY Solidarity. 8:30-3:30 at Bishop Harrison.

Sun., Mar 8: Full coalition will not meet today, but committees may meet during the normal time . Location TBD.

Sun., Mar 22: CNY Solidarity Coalition meeting. 3-5pm, location TBD. Note the return to our old 3pm start time.

Sun., Apr 5: CNY Solidarity Coalition meeting. 3-5pm, location TBD.

Sun., Apr 19: CNY Solidarity Coalition meeting. 3-5pm at Park Central.

Apr 18-26: Early voting period for presidential primary; specific days/times/locations TBA.

Apr 28: Presidential primary election in NYS.
