Break ’em Up: Recovering Our Freedom from Big Ag, Big Tech, and Big Money

By Zephyr Teachout

[We need] a grassroots, bottom-up movement that understands the challenge in front of us, and then organizes against monopoly power in communities across this country. This book is a blueprint for that organizing. In these pages, you will learn how monopolies and oligopolies have taken over almost every aspect of American life, and you will also learn about what can be done to stop that trend before it is too late.

The momentum for building electrification is growing in New York! A few weeks ago, over 200 organizations, including yours, sent a letter to Governor Hochul calling on her to electrify at least 2 million homes by 2030, with at least half of those homes representing new and existing affordable housing in disadvantaged communities. The letter calls for a Green Affordable Housing Fund to equitably fund this transition and for changes to building codes and utility regulations to support rapid building electrification.

Last week, Senator Kavanagh and Assemblymember Gallagher introduced the All-Electric Building Act at a press conference with advocates. This bill together with several others make up the Renewable Heat Now bill package – a plan to electrify buildings affordably and equitably. Together, we will work to enact these policies!

Please attend the Town Halls and sign the Building Electrification Equity petition to Governor Hochul (sample email and graphics for your convenience).

Three Important actions on Friday. One Federal, one State, one County.  Come to one or all three!

Freedom to Vote: Time to Act

Friday, November 19, 2021; 10am-11 am

James M. Hanley Federal Building – 100 S Clinton St, Syracuse, NY 13261

Link to Event

Extremist politicians have spent the year putting up barriers to voting in one state after another and are now drawing districts to benefit themselves, carving up communities and `attempting to drown out the voices of millions of American voters for the next decade.

The American people have responded by coming together to demand Congress act. The House already passed sweeping legislation to protect our freedom to vote and realize the promise of democracy for all.

Now, we’re working together to ensure that the Senate delivers for the American people so all our voices are heard and we can elect people who will deliver for us.

That’s why we’re mobilizing) for a Freedom to Vote: Time to Act week of action.

Join us for our Freedom to Vote: The Time is Now event to urge the Senate to act swiftly to pass robust national standards for federal elections, and to use every lever of power and influence to get this done.
