Send A Letter to the NY Public Service Commission – Put People and the Planet First! While wildfires rage across the globe, we’re reminded why we’re called to climate action. This summer, we have a rare opportunity to convince decision makers to change course. Natural gas — a fossil fuel that’s mostly methane — is harmful to our health and supercharging climate change. Yet instead of investing in cleaner options, state-regulated utilities continue spending our money to unnecessarily expand the gas system, locking us into decades of reliance on gas for heating, cooking, and hot water — all while our energy costs rise to pay for it. New York’s utility regulators, the Public Service Commission, are working on redesigning the long-term gas planning process. They have the power to stop unnecessary pipeline buildouts and help our communities transition to clean, affordable energy. Tell Governor Hochul to greenlight thermal energy networks New York already has a plan for bringing clean, affordable heating and cooling to neighborhoods across the state, while building good union jobs along the way. Tell Governor Hochul that New Yorkers are counting on her to deliver on the promise of thermal energy networks. Four years ago, the Governor signed the Utility Thermal Energy Network and Jobs Act (UTENJA). Utilities across the state have been planning pilot projects ever since. Stop the STAMP Data Center in NY – Honor the Seneca Nation’s Treaty! A massive data center is being rushed onto land next to the Tonawanda Seneca Nation’s reservation in western New York — and the federal government’s treaty obligations are being ignored in the process. The proposed facility, called Project Double Reed, would cover two million square feet and sit on the doorstep of the Big Woods: roughly 1,000 acres of wetlands, hemlock, maple, and walnut forest where Seneca Nation members gather medicines, hunt, and practice their traditions. The Genesee County Economic Development Center (GCEDC), the county agency pushing this project, has called it a “done deal” — even claiming it could “have shovels in the ground in a matter of weeks.” But there’s a problem. The United States has a treaty with the Tonawanda Seneca Nation — one signed and ratified under George Washington. Under Article Six, Section Two of the U.S. Constitution, that treaty is the supreme law of the land. It requires meaningful government-to-government consultation before any development threatens the Nation’s land, water, or cultural practices. New York State’s own Department of Environmental Conservation has said the project cannot move forward without a full supplemental environmental review. State law also requires an environmental justice analysis because of the project’s direct impact on the Tonawanda Seneca Nation, a designated disadvantaged community. None of that has been completed. We call on the GCEDC to halt all approvals for Project Double Reed until the Tonawanda Seneca Nation has been meaningfully consulted in accordance with treaty obligations, and until a complete environmental review — including an environmental justice analysis — has been conducted and made public. Join Neighbors For A Better Micron Neighbors For A Better Micron is an association of residents who are Micron’s close neighbors. They filed a lawsuit in January 2026 because, in the words of its president, “our local and state governments have yet to address a core question: Has the company done enough to guarantee us that the economic benefits of its “mega-fab” will outweigh a range of potential negative impacts? Becoming a member of this group means supporting their association’s general mission of encouraging Micron to be a good neighbor. It does not mean you’re part of any legal actions they take, and regardless of whether you choose to join as a member, you will not be personally liable for the lawsuit. There are many other ways to help accomplish our mission unrelated to the lawsuit, such as helping organize events, attending meetings, or conducting educational outreach. Apply for an Early Mail, Absentee, or Accessible Ballot In NY State, any registered voter may apply for an Early Mail Ballot. Absentee Ballots are also available in certain circumstances. In addition, voters who require a ballot with accessible features may apply using the online Accessible Ballot Application Portal. In 2024, over 29,000 people voted by mail in Onondaga County! When is your application due? Applications requesting to receive a ballot must be received by the board of elections in your county no later than ten days before the election. For early mail ballots to be received in-person, applications must be received by your board no later than the day before the election. When will your ballot be sent? Your ballot materials will be sent to you beginning 46 days before federal, state, county, city or town elections in which you are eligible to vote. If you applied after this date, your ballot will be sent immediately after your completed and signed application is received and processed by your local board of elections.
