NO KINGS: Defending Our Votes October 17 was a powerful start, but there’s more work to do. We must ensure that every valid vote is counted, certified, and protected. From today through Election Day, No Kings has a dual mission: continuing to drive every eligible voter to cast their ballot, while preparing our nationwide network to rapidly respond to any attempts at election interference. If officials attempt to obstruct the count or refuse to certify valid results, our movement must be ready to stand together in disciplined, nonviolent community action to defend our elections. This includes you. Because in America, the people choose their leaders, and we will not allow any official to subvert the will of the voters. Take Action Here

Demand Stronger Protections against Data Center Development in NY Over the summer, New Yorkers won an important victory when Governor Hochul announced a moratorium on state permits for polluting hyperscale data centers. This pause gets lifted when an environmental review is complete. Now, Governor Hochul is rushing the process and narrowing the review’s scope, ignoring major impacts of data centers like e-waste, water pollution, and our ability to rapidly reduce pollution to meet our state’s climate mandates. We have until Thursday, November 4 to submit comments to Gov. Hochul’s Public Service Commission, calling for a stronger review process that covers the full range of data center impacts. It will take the voices of thousands of New Yorkers to weigh in to keep data centers from poisoning our land, air, and water. Help us generate masses of comments by using and sharing this one-click online action tool

Town Hall Discussion: Reparations for Black New Yorkers. Thursday, November 5, 6-8 PM | Tucker Missionary Baptist Church, 515 Oakwood Ave, Syracuse Hosted by the New York Civil Liberties Union and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. We will discuss our recent report on Reparations The Other New York: The Legacy of Slavery and the Case for Reparations Now. For hundreds of years, Black people in New York faced slavery, unfair laws, and discrimination. Kept out of good jobs, owning thriving business, safe housing, clean environments, and fair schools. Slavery has impacted how much wealth families have, their health, and the neighborhoods they can live in. Reparations are a way to repair that harm. This can mean cash payments, but it can also mean targeting housing policies, education, health care, and voting rights. The goal is to make things fair and to help Black families build strong futures. Come enjoy food, refreshments, and join us to help shape the future of New York State.
