RAIN OR SHINE!
Please stay on sidewalks, observe traffic signals, and be safe.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
Freedom Over Fascism

In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings.
Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. In June, you turned out in record numbers for the first Syracuse area No Kings event. Let’s make this one even bigger and more powerful. Bring your commitment to peace, justice, fairness and democracy to the sidewalks of DeWitt this time around.
“NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.
The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us. This is not just a national issue. There are local impacts across all populations affecting jobs, healthcare, freedom of speech and so much more.
On October 18th, we’re showing up everywhere to say no thrones, no crowns, no kings. Check out nokings.org for more information.

Map & Transportation

This will be a sidewalk rally along Erie Blvd East roughly between Kinne Rd and East Genesee St. There are sidewalks on both sides of Erie and on Genesee St. The location and form of the rally was selected to ensure high visibility and participation. There will be no program of speakers or a central podium. Feel free to pick your protest spot on the public sidewalks on Erie Blvd. E.— anywhere from Kinne Rd. to E. Genesee St.
Parking
We are not providing specific guidance for parking. The organizers recognize that parking in a car-centric culture is a challenge at any large rally location, this one included. We trust that you can plan ahead. We implore you to be mindful of local businesses and not use the parking spaces they need to conduct business. There are several large vacant lots in the vicinity that do not serve open businesses, especially along Erie between Genesee and Kinne. You may have to walk a bit if you are able. Please carpool as much as possible.
Riding Centro Buses
If you have smartphone, download the Centro App, ‘GoCentroBus‘, on Android Google-Play or Mac App-store. GoCentroBus can tell you where your bus is in real time. The bus fare costs $1.

Safety
The benefit of choosing a busy, highly-visible location also comes with obvious risks. We trust that you all understand the need to be safe. At a minimum, that means not entering traffic lanes as a pedestrian, not blocking traffic, only crossing at legal crosswalks, not blocking entrances and exits to businesses, not blocking the view of drivers, and especially not blocking the DeWitt Fire Station if you are at that end of the protest area. We will have a number of trained marshals to keep folks safe. Local law enforcement will likely be there to support public safety–yours and drivers. Please respect both the marshals and law enforcement requests.
Training
Before you hit the streets- join the ACLU’s Protest Safety, Know Your Rights and De-Escalation Training on October 15 at 7 PM. This training will give you the tools to take action safely, confidently, and with key de-escalation strategies in hand. Whether you’re marching, rallying, or supporting from the sidelines, you’ll learn how to protect yourself, your community, and stand up for your rights.
Messaging
Humor and ridicule of the regime creates the most effective messaging. Signs don’t need to be fancy, but make sure the letters are BIG, BOLD, and CLEAR—drivers can’t read what they can’t see. Let’s show everyone how creative we are in Syracuse! Here are some examples from Indivisible.
Etiquette
As ALWAYS, our protests focus on PEACEFUL, non-violent resistance. DO NOT engage with, respond to, or confront anyone who voices anger or disagreement from passing cars or on the street. Remain on the public sidewalks at all times. Respect local businesses and do not become the source of conflict.
