A core intention of CNY Solidarity Coalition is to bring together and support organizations already out there helping directly affected communities in the Central New York area.
Our Allied Organizations are particularly important to the Central New York community, and many people in our Coalition are also involved with them. If you’re looking for ways to become more involved, these organizations are a great place to start:
Syracuse-Onondaga Food Systems Alliance
The Syracuse-Onondaga Food Systems Alliance (SOFSA) is a network of changemakers dedicated to reshaping our region’s food system. Grounded in principles of transformative justice and reciprocity, we cultivate connection, collaboration, and coordination across sectors to mobilize our collective resources towards a more just and sustainable food future in Syracuse, Onondaga County, and Onondaga Nation.
Through our network’s shared actions, SOFSA works to enact principles of transformative justice and collective impact through the following practices:
-
aligning resources and capacity
-
fostering relationships
-
promoting civic engagement and policy development
-
cultivating food system innovation
We strive to address the root causes of food injustice and recognize their interconnectedness with all kinds of systemic oppression. We are building a responsive movement to transform our food system.

The 6/5/26 Pop-up Honk and Wave is canceled. We are directing activists to the De-ICE Citizens Bank protest.
|
We at DSA, IOC, and CNY Solidarity hope to see you step out and stand up with us against injustice and lawlessness perpetrated by ICE.
We hold Citizens Bank accountable for funding inhumane detention camps. We hold them accountable through boycott, divestment, and peaceful protest on 6/6 from 10-12pm at 6770 East Genesee St in Fayetteville. As always, when we assemble publicly to exercise our First Amendment rights, we do so assertively and peacefully. Ignore counterprotestors. Keep your cool, deescalate, and take care for each other along the way.
Please stay on public sidewalks. If you need assistance please reach out to a marshal in the yellow vests.

An Open Letter to Managers and Executives of Citizens Bank As a community organization, the Central New York Solidarity Coalition is very concerned about the impact of anti-immigrant policies in our neighborhoods and the creation of for-profit incarceration facilities to support these harmful policies. In particular we are troubled that Citizens Bank has provided financing to two notorious giants of the private prison industry, Core Civic and GEO Group. These firms have been contracted to build and operate a network of private prisons to house victims of the surge of ICE arrests. Data from DHS and the Cato Institute have shown that the majority of ICE detainees have no criminal record, yet they are locked up in facilities which deny their basic needs for decent food, sanitation, and medical care while depriving them of rights guaranteed by the Constitution. By providing financing to these firms, Citizens Bank is making itself complicit in these abuses. This directly contradicts your corporate pledge to foster strong communities by investing in people, businesses, and neighborhoods for a thriving resilient future. Therefore the CNY Solidarity Coalition supports depositors and community members who decline to do business with Citizens Bank until it ceases to support these abusive private prison firms, and we call on Citizens Bank to publicly commit to severing future ties with these firms, allow current financial agreements with them to expire, and enter into no new ones.

Support Term Limits, Vacancies & Pedestrian Safety in Onondaga County!! Thursday, June 11 at 1:00pm County Executive’s Conference Room, 14th Floor, Civic Center, 421 Montgomery St, Syracuse Onondaga Democrat Legislators have passed three good governance local laws that are heading to the County Executive for him to sign or veto. He is required to hold a public hearing on these local laws before he decides. Let’s Show Up & Share Our Support for these good governance laws. Here are the details of each local law & public hearing: - 1:00pm – Ensure the safety of vulnerable road users in Onondaga County
- This local law defines establishing a 3 foot minimum passing distance for motor vehicles to pass pedestrians.
- 1:05pm – Amend the County Charter to impose Term Limits on the County Executive
- If signed, this would send this proposition to the ballot this November for the voters to decide if the county executive position should have a 12-year term limit on the office of County Executive, which currently has no limit. In 2025, voters overwhelmingly voted in favor of 12 year term limits on county legislators.
- 1:10pm – Amend the County Charter for the County Legislature to appoint vacancies to the Legislature
- This amendment gives the County Legislature the power to appoint a replacement in the county legislature, who will then serve until the next possible election, when voters will choose who fills the seat for the rest of the term. Currently the county executive appoints a replacement. If signed, this proposition would go before the voters this November. Read More Here
Let’s show up at the County Executive’s public hearings on these laws and share why we support these changes! Come to speak at one or all three!
