June 12, 2017 is the one year anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting. We will gather at City Hall at 7PM in community to mark that date, mourn those who were lost, and to remember the fights ahead of us.
This is a memorial gathering, not a rally. Come as you are and as suits your mood — some may choose to dress in black; some may choose to dress in rainbows; some may choose to come in full drag. We welcome everyone in a spirit of love and community.
We will hopefully feature some music and poetry. You are welcome to bring signs or other symbols, but we ask that you keep in mind that this is a memorial and not a political rally.
For those who are able, there will also be a chance to donate a few dollars to two local LGBTQ causes. Any funds raised will be split evenly between Black Cuse Pride, which supports Syracuse’s inner-city LGBTQ community, and the Q Center, which support LGBTQ youth in the Syracuse area.
