JF Real Estate Profits from ICE Terror Syracuse-based JF Real Estate owns the Oswego Border Patrol Facility building. JF Real Estate is owned by John Funiciello, and represents roughly 3 million square feet of commercial space and more than 175 apartments in CNY. Recently, Funiciello said that he owns the Border Patrol building and leases it to the federal government. The current annual rent was advertised as $376,137. The Oswego border patrol facility has come under scrutiny for their direct role in the detention of at least 57 workers from Cato, NY and for their close ties with local law enforcement.
Together we demand that JF Real Estate cease their support of ICE and CBP (Customs and Border Patrol), while we urge the Syracuse Common Council to pass the full Melt the Contracts resolution: To ensure that businesses that support ICE enforcement efforts are barred from entering into contracts with the city government.

12 or 16 Years Term Limits For County Executive & Comptroller? There are two proposals in front of the county legislature to apply term limits to these two roles that currently have no term limits. Last year voters passed 12 year (3 terms) term limits to county legislators by over 70%! Now the question is: Should the county executive and county comptroller have a 3 term limit (12 years) or 4 term limit (16 years)?
Both of these proposals would go before the voters in November for final say and both proposals wouldn’t start until 2030 due to the change in moving local elections to even years. Contact the legislature and the county executive to tell them if you support 12 or 16 year term limits. Onondaga County Legislature’s next session is Tuesday, July 7th at 1:00pm.

Submit a Public Comment about Postal Service Changes for Ballots The US Postal Service is still considering changes to how they will process ballots for the November midterms. Monday’s Supreme Court decision confirms that ballots can be counted as long as they’re postmarked by Election Day; the ruling does not mention the Trump Administration’s desire for ballots to be held by USPS. These proposed rule changes are still being considered; public comments must be received by July 2, 2026. Here’s what you can do

Join Neighbors For A Better Micron Neighbors For A Better Micron is an association of residents who are Micron’s close neighbors. They filed a lawsuit in January 2026 because, in the words of its president, “our local and state governments have yet to address a core question: Has the company done enough to guarantee us that the economic benefits of its “mega-fab” will outweigh a range of potential negative impacts? We are concerned that the preparation to welcome our new neighbor has overlooked key questions, including rising housing costs, worker exposure to toxic chemicals, the pollution of air and water we rely on, significant greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, a risk of flooding from wetlands destruction, and a strain on our transportation system.” As close neighbors, this association has legal standing to bring this lawsuit.
Becoming a member of this group means supporting their association’s general mission of encouraging Micron to be a good neighbor. It does not mean you’re part of any legal actions they take, and regardless of whether you choose to join as a member, you will not be personally liable for the lawsuit. There are many other ways to help accomplish our mission unrelated to the lawsuit, such as helping organize events, attending meetings, or conducting educational outreach.

America250 vs. Freedom250 It’s America’s 250th birthday and two different organizations have been asked by the government to plan its party: America250 and Freedom 250. As the summer’s big celebrations approach, the differences between the two groups may seem confusing. How do we know which events to attend, or which commemorative products to buy? The Trump administration seems to be using confusion about these events to its advantage. In late May, news broke that many musical acts were told they were joining a bipartisan celebration, and later dropped out when they realized they were participating in an event tied to the administration. Here’s what you need to know about America250, Freedom 250, and how President Donald Trump is exploiting our country’s 250th anniversary.

Film: Cuba After Castro Wednesday, July 01, 07:00 PM – 09:00 PM Syracuse Peace Council, 2013 E. Genesee St, Syracuse Cuba After Castro delivers the definitive portrait of Miguel Díaz-Canel, Cuba’s first leader born after the Revolution. Through this unprecedented in-depth interview we see a vision of revolutionary Cuba suppressed in the west: a nation of collective values and defiance in the face of constant threats from the United States. The film chronicles Diaz-Canel’s formation as an unexpected successor to the Castros — an unassuming organizer molded by the revolutionary process. Confronting a perfect storm of intensified U.S. sanctions, a media war, a devastating pandemic, and historic domestic protests. Díaz-Canel reflects on navigating these existential crises for the nation he has come to lead.
