CNY Solidarity & Indivisible Onondaga County

Many of our members are focused on this year’s midterm elections as this is one of the biggest ways to make progress on many issues we continue to fight for. They are writing postcards, knocking on doors, making phone calls and donating to candidates who will work towards economic, social, racial and environmental justice. This year we have the opportunity to elect representatives at every level of government with local elections transiting to even years. In 2025, voters in Onondaga County elected the first Democratic majority to the County Legislature in nearly 50 years. Meet the legislators and candidates who want to keep and expand this majority to provide checks and balances in county government at our next meeting on Sunday, October 11 at 3:00pm. Alliance For A Green Economy – Take Action! September 24 is the final day to submit a comment to the Public Service Commission opposing the Governor’s 5 gigawatt nuclear reactor buildout plan. The Commission approves the rates utilities charge us, and the nuclear options on the table would have the public pay construction costs and any overruns. Your comment takes a few minutes and helps keep our dollars working for families. Submit a comment here.

Populism, Authoritarianism, and MAGA: Presented by Voices of Women Wednesday, September 23, 02:00 PM – 03:30 PM Fayetteville Free Library, 300 Orchard St, Fayetteville A Presentation by Mark Rupert, a retired political science professor. He taught for 34 years at SU, initially specializing in the area of international relations and globalization. When researching his second book (Ideologies of Globalization, 2000) he encountered right-wing anti-globalists motivated by various conspiracy beliefs, and began to focus more on right-wing populism and conspiracy culture. About a decade before retirement, he created a course on that topic, which was then seen as a somewhat odd scholarly niche but became increasingly significant as the Tea Party morphed into the MAGA movement. 52 seats are available.
