Indivisible National has published a guide with some suggestions for increasing your safety, as well as those around you. We’ve added the link to our website; each Thursday, we’ll highlight one of the suggestions.
Disable Location Tracking on your Devices
Giving your phone and your apps access to your location undeniably makes them more useful. If your phone knows where you are, you can get map directions and weather updates, calculate travel times, or alert your friends and family to your location. But there’s a darker side to location tracking: apps often build shockingly detailed profiles of your daily movements and then monetize this data.
Turning off location services and clearing location history, or at least adjusting certain settings, is a crucial step in protecting your private data from third parties. Click here to find out more.

Indivisible Oswego County Rally Saturday, September 19, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Downtown Oswego on the Bridge Street Bridge/Rte 104, and up Bridge Street East Saturday, September 19th at our regularly scheduled 10:00 am rally Alissa Ellman, who is running for office against Rep Claudia Tenney in the 24th District, will be at the rally. Alissa lost her job with the Veterans Administration with those cuts, which was one of her catalysts for running for office. Bring your organization specific signs and stand with us on Bridge Street in Oswego. It is our hope to fill the streets with solidarity.

Onondaga Lake Watch Public Meeting Monday, September 21, 06:30 PM – 08:00 PM Camillus Elks Lodge #31 6117 Newport Road Camillus This meeting will examine an environmental issue that has received far less public attention than the contamination of the lake itself: potential community exposure through the air during past and present Onondaga Lake cleanup activities. Our presentation will focus specifically on the potential health risks associated with the inhalation of mercury vapor during Lake-related remediation, and questions surrounding how community exposure through the air pathway has been essentially been ignored by DEC and EPA during these cleanups.
