- Many of our members are focused on this year’s midterm elections as this is one of the biggest ways to make progress on many issues we continue to fight for. They are writing postcards, knocking on doors, making phone calls and donating to candidates who will work towards economic, social, racial and environmental justice. This year we have the opportunity to elect representatives at every level of government with local elections transiting to even years. In 2025, voters in Onondaga County elected the first Democratic majority to the County Legislature in nearly 50 years. Meet the legislators and candidates who want to keep and expand this majority to provide checks and balances in county government at our next meeting on Sunday, October 11 at 3:00pm. Indivisible National has published a guide with some suggestions for increasing your safety, as well as those around you. We’ve added the link to our website; each Thursday, we’ll highlight one of the suggestions.
Digitally Prepare for a Protest
When cops access one person’s phone at a protest, they can map the whole network: contacts, Signal threads, location history. This guide protects you and the people you organize with. Before you go: power off if you can, set a strong passcode, disable biometric unlock, enable Signal disappearing messages, and hide notification previews. Organizers and people more likely to be targeted should go further.

Onondaga Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Public Workshop #1 Tuesday, September 29, 05:30 PM – 07:30 PM Zoom Event Onondaga County is hosting the first public workshop for the Onondaga Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan. Public input is essential to ensure the Onondaga County SS4A Action Plan reflects the community’s lived experiences and needs. The virtual meeting will begin with a brief presentation introducing the purpose of the plan, the planning process schedule, and explaining how community feedback will inform the goals of the Safety Action Plan. Friends of Dorothy Benefit Dinner Wednesday, September 30 at 5:00pm – 7:00pm All Saints Church, 1340 Lancaster Ave, Syracuse Friends of Dorothy is our initiative to be supportive of people with AIDS. Since October of 1992 we have offered home-based care to people with AIDS in a variety of ways, including recuperative or hospice care, supportive housing and emergency assistance.

Public Hearings on Wastewater Fees/Onondaga County Budget Thursday, October 01, 04:00 PM – 07:00 PM 401 Montgomery St Syracuse – Rm 407 – County Courthouse Onondaga County is proposing to amend the sanitary unit charge rate schedule by revising the quantity of water usage allowed for one ‘unit charge’ from 85,000gallons per year (GPY) to 70,000 GPY. This change will not impact residential households that are charged a flat rate of 1 unit charge per housing unit. But it will impact Commercial, Industrial, or Institutional users in the sanitary district.
