Our Ongoing efforts: - Are you an activist? Do you want to get more involved in learning how to organize a protest? The CNY Solidarity Coalition has three protests in the works right now with various parts to each, all being organized by a small team. We could use more dedicated activists involved in planning and managing protests. If you would like to be involved, please contact us!
- In 2025, voters in Onondaga County elected the first Democratic majority to the County Legislature in nearly 50 years. Meet the legislators and candidates who want to keep and expand this majority to provide checks and balances in county government at our next meeting on Sunday, October 11 at 3:00pm. Volunteer for the Indigenous Peoples’ Day Festival The 2026 Indigenous Peoples’ Day Festival will be held on October 10 on unceded Onondaga land at Tsha’ Thon’nhes (Where They Play Ball), 3370 State Rte. 11A, Nedrow. There will be children’s activities all day and include a sensory/nursery room for a quiet space. They will have numerous food vendors this year- come hungry!- and over 50 community organizations and fine art and craft vendors (card and cash accepted- ATM available at Firekeepers Diner on Rte 11). This event is ADA accessible for mobility devices; certified service animals welcome. KN95 masks for adults and children will be available at the greeters table. The organizers strongly encourage carpooling! They are currently seeking volunteers to help make this event a success. Please click here. Syracuse Peace Council – Sign Up for Upcoming Events The Syracuse Peace Council has two events coming up in early October, and it would help them to know how many people will be attending. On Saturday, October 3, they will be hosting their 90th Birthday Dinner, starting at 5:30 pm. More Information here.
The second item is a two-session book discussion group on Let This Radicalize You: Organizing and the Revolution of Reciprocal Care, by long-time organizers and movement educators Kelly Hayes and Mariame Kaba. CNY Pride Holiday Market: Call for Vendors CNY Pride is hosting their first ever Holiday Market on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 4 to 9 PM at The Mizpah on Jefferson Street in Syracuse. Onondaga County Ballot Referendums There will be two referendums on the ballot for Onondaga County this year. Voters will be able to vote yes or no to 12-year limits and yes or no to 16-year limits. These votes are unconnected from each other — voters can support just one, both or neither. If neither reaches a majority of voters, there will be no term limits. Otherwise, the one with more votes in favor will become law. More Details Here

Reception for 2027 Peace Calendar Exhibit Tuesday, Sept 29, 5:30-7 PM, Soule Branch Library, 101 Springfield Rd, Syracuse For decades Syracuse Cultural Workers has published an annual Peace Calendar to engage people in the vital work of creating a more peaceful, just and sustainable world. This exhibit features 13 panels displaying the artwork and cover from the 2027 Peace Calendar, the 56th edition.

Onondaga Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Public Workshop #1 Tuesday, Sept 29, 5:30-7:30 PM, Zoom Event Onondaga County is hosting the first public workshop for the Onondaga Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan. Public input is essential to ensure the Onondaga County SS4A Action Plan reflects the community’s lived experiences and needs. The virtual meeting will begin with a brief presentation introducing the purpose of the plan, the planning process schedule, and explaining how community feedback will inform the goals of the Safety Action Plan. Following the presentation, meeting attendees will participate in breakout room discussions to identify safety concerns, issues, and opportunities throughout Onondaga County. Register

Friends of Dorothy Benefit Dinner Wednesday, Sept 30, 5-7 pm, All Saints Church, 1340 Lancaster Ave, Syracuse Friends of Dorothy is our initiative to be supportive of people with AIDS. Since October of 1992 we have offered home-based care to people with AIDS in a variety of ways, including recuperative or hospice care, supportive housing and emergency assistance.
