Our current political environment is fraught with danger, in both the real and digital world.
Indivisible National has published a guide with some suggestions for increasing your safety, as well as those around you. We’ve added the link to our website; each Thursday, we’ll highlight one of the suggestions.
Doxxing, Harassment, and Online Threats
Doxxing and harassment are increasingly common risks for activists, and it’s essential to know how to protect against these threats. This section offers steps for limiting your online visibility, such as conducting “opposition research” on public-facing group members to identify vulnerabilities, and provides guidance on managing and documenting harassment if it occurs. If you or your group members experience doxxing or threats, being prepared with documentation can aid in reporting and legal actions.
Here’s how to prepare
More Safety Information is on our website

Family Preparedness Clinic Tuesday, November 03, 8:30 AM – 4 PM | Register to Receive Location We will have two attorneys available that day to provide guidance and help families prepare the necessary documents to be better prepared for an emergency. Often, when someone is unexpectedly detained, their family may not have the necessary documents in place or up to date to navigate the situation. This can lead to uncertainty, confusion, and additional challenges for the family. For this reason, we want to emphasize the importance of planning ahead and help families take proactive steps to protect their loved ones. Email Jenny Aguirre at morrisonvilleona@rcdony.org to register.

Town Hall Discussion: Reparations for Black New Yorkers. Thursday, November 5, 6-8 PM | Tucker Missionary Baptist Church, 515 Oakwood Ave, Syracuse Hosted by the New York Civil Liberties Union and the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. We will discuss our recent report on Reparations The Other New York: The Legacy of Slavery and the Case for Reparations Now. For hundreds of years, Black people in New York faced slavery, unfair laws, and discrimination. Kept out of good jobs, owning thriving business, safe housing, clean environments, and fair schools. Slavery has impacted how much wealth families have, their health, and the neighborhoods they can live in. Reparations are a way to repair that harm. This can mean cash payments, but it can also mean targeting housing policies, education, health care, and voting rights. The goal is to make things fair and to help Black families build strong futures. Come enjoy food, refreshments, and join us to help shape the future of New York State.
