Worker’s Center of Central New York is issuing an urgent CALL TO ACTION to help us oppose the ongoing detentions of our immigrant neighbors at the Mattydale ICE office. JOIN THEM MONDAY, JUNE 22nd at 6:30PM at SALINA TOWN HALL, 201 SCHOOL RD, LIVERPOOL, NY Help pack the Salina Town Board Meeting and DEMAND that they act to get ICE out of Mattydale and put an end to their unlawful detentions of our immigrant neighbors! As of March 2026, over 450 individuals, some as young as five, have been detained at this facility according to internal ICE data requested and released by the Deportation Data Project. Most are then sent on to even worse facilities in Batavia or across the country. The Salina Town Board has promised to consider a resolution that would require an operating permit for any detention facility operating in the town. This is our best chance of curtailing activity at the facility. It is critical that the Town passes this resolution NOW, before ICE expands their arrest and detention operation in Mattydale. Please reach out to the Workers’ Center at wccny@workerscentercny.org for more information

A core intention of CNY Solidarity Coalition is to bring together and support organizations already out there helping directly affected communities in the Central New York area.
Our Allied Organizations are particularly important to the Central New York community, and many people in our Coalition are also involved with them. If you’re looking for ways to become more involved, these organizations are a great place to start:
Join Neighbors For A Better Micron
Neighbors For A Better Micron is an association of residents who are Micron’s close neighbors. They filed a lawsuit in January 2026 because, in the words of its president, “our local and state governments have yet to address a core question: Has the company done enough to guarantee us that the economic benefits of its “mega-fab” will outweigh a range of potential negative impacts? We are concerned that the preparation to welcome our new neighbor has overlooked key questions, including rising housing costs, worker exposure to toxic chemicals, the pollution of air and water we rely on, significant greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, a risk of flooding from wetlands destruction, and a strain on our transportation system.” As close neighbors, this association has legal standing to bring this lawsuit.
Becoming a member of this group means supporting their association’s general mission of encouraging Micron to be a good neighbor. It does not mean you’re part of any legal actions they take, and regardless of whether you choose to join as a member, you will not be personally liable for the lawsuit. There are many other ways to help accomplish our mission unrelated to the lawsuit, such as helping organize events, attending meetings, or conducting educational outreach.
