🚨 Urgent: Call Your State Lawmakers to Pass a Statewide Data Center Moratorium! 🚨 There is just one week remaining for the NYS Legislature to pass important legislation on issues that will have significant impacts for the environment. Time is of the essence so please act today! The Data Center Moratorium Bill (S9144A/A10141A) would impose a three-year moratorium on local and state approvals for data centers requiring more than 20 megawatts of power. It would also require the state Department of Environmental Conservation and the state’s utility regulator to issue regulations to address potential environmental impacts and prevent higher electricity rates for residential users.
Sen. May: NY needs to get smart on data centers before they outsmart us The Albany Times Union has a recent editorial viewpoint on this bill.
Call Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (518-455-3791) and Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (518-455-2585) and urge them to bring the Data Center Moratorium Bill to the floor for a vote!

Stop the Pentagon’s Warfare-Powering AI Data Centers Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is quickly working to create an “AI-first” fighting force. To supercharge an already dangerous AI-powered war machine, the Army and Air Force are planning to build data centers spanning thousands of acres of military property in Texas, North Carolina, Utah, California, Arizona, and Georgia — and more could follow. It’s all to advance the usage of AI in warfare; autonomous weapons systems, algorithms making life-or-death decisions, robots with the power to launch nuclear weapons. Wall Street firms and private equity companies like the Carlyle Group and BlackRock are turning to the Pentagon to cash in on the AI boom, which is currently negotiating “exclusive” 50-year term leases of its property for the data centers. To get lawmakers to pay attention and prevent more data centers from destroying land, water, and air to power AI warfare tomorrow, we need as many people as possible speaking out today. De-ICE Citizens Bank National Day of Action
The 6/5/26 Pop-up Honk and Wave is canceled. We are directing activists to the De-ICE Citizens Bank protest on 6/6/26 10-12pm, 6770 E Genesee St, Fayetteville. Join us June 6 for a national day of action to tell Citizens Bank to stop funding for-profit prison companies CoreCivic and GEO Group. These companies are making hundreds of millions of dollars by colluding with ICE to violate our neighbors human and Constitutional rights, and are doing so without independent oversight. No company should profit from harmful detention practices without consequences. We demand that Citizens Bank publicly sever business ties with CoreCivic and GEO Group. More Information

Syracuse Citizen Review Board Meeting Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:30pm Syracuse City Hall – Common Council Chamber Please go to the June meeting of the Syracuse Citizen Review Board. Step up to the mic during the public comment period and ask the Board to SPEAK OUT about the restrictions the City imposed on it last month. The CRB’s authority to conduct investigations MUST BE FULLY RESTORED, but for this to happen the CRB must STAND UP for its own existence! Please tell the CRB how important it is that it continue to investigate civilian complaints about the police and make related recommendations. The City Attorney has mis-interpreted a recent Appellate Court decision that only dealt with the powers of a different kind of police accountability entity in Rochester. That court said NOTHING about our CRB nor any other complaint review entity anywhere else in NY State. The City should stand ready to defend the legislation that created our CRB, not push for it to be eroded.
