CNY Solidarity & IOC Meeting This Sunday! Sunday, May 31 at 3:00pm – 5:00pm All Saints Parish Center, 1342 Lancaster Ave Our first hour will feature a presentation about Syracuse’s Lead Water Crisis by Lanessa Chaplin and Lizmarie Montemayor Robles of NYCLU, and Oceanna Fair of Families for Lead Freedom. Our second hour will be devoted to committee break-out sessions to plan protests, contact our representatives, and plan actions including a break out session on Lead and Beyond War and Militarism:
“We know that CNY Solidarity committees are working hard from several directions to stem the tide of fascism. And, we know that the Trump administration is bearing down on the use of weapons and wars in its fascist attempt to control life well beyond our borders. Ongoing wars are killing hundreds of thousands of people, bankrupting our country, placing our own soldiers in harm’s way, and sharply increasing the risk of nuclear catastrophe. If you would like to help increase the antiwar presence in our community, please consider joining our breakout meeting. We need to resist!”
All are welcome. A zoom link will be provided when you RSVP if you would like to watch our meeting on zoom.

A core intention of CNY Solidarity Coalition is to bring together and support organizations already out there helping directly affected communities in the Central New York area.
Our Allied Organizations are particularly important to the Central New York community, and many people in our Coalition are also involved with them. If you’re looking for ways to become more involved, these organizations are a great place to start:
Syracuse DSA
Syracuse DSA is an autonomous and democratically organized branch of the Democratic Socialists of America operating in Syracuse, NY and the wider Central New York region. Members of Syracuse DSA are active in the broader advocacy community organizing to build a better world for the working class.
Through campus and community-based chapters, DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative involvement to direct action in our communities, to fight for reforms that empower working class people.

Syracuse Citizen Review Board Meeting Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:30pm Syracuse City Hall – Common Council Chamber Please go to the June meeting of the Syracuse Citizen Review Board. Step up to the mic during the public comment period and ask the Board to SPEAK OUT about the restrictions the City imposed on it last month. The CRB’s authority to conduct investigations MUST BE FULLY RESTORED, but for this to happen the CRB must STAND UP for its own existence! Please tell the CRB how important it is that it continue to investigate civilian complaints about the police and make related recommendations. The City Attorney has mis-interpreted a recent Appellate Court decision that only dealt with the powers of a different kind of police accountability entity in Rochester. That court said NOTHING about our CRB nor any other complaint review entity anywhere else in NY State. The City should stand ready to defend the legislation that created our CRB, not push for it to be eroded.
